Before I answer WHY SylviaLive is getting an upgrade, let’s backup a little and look at the steps that SylviaLive has taken since 2021.
Back in January of ‘21, the SylviaLive podcast was born. It was formerly known as the Music Secrets Exposed podcast. It was a tentative ‘do-it-yourself’ step into the worldwide web. With trepidation, audio podcasts were released with a focus on the world of music from a tutoring point of view. I was after a 20 year period of working within the piano and music theory tutoring field locally in Ireland.
These podcasts were my way of expressing pieces of advice to avoid novice students making incorrect decisions when it came to their musical studies. I witnessed a lot of wasted talent and money in my time. It is tragic, when you see a student with a natural inclination to play music with ease, that due to poor educational standards, that student’s future can be limited, especially when tuition and decisions are not taken well. The reason for Music Secrets Exposed podcast was to provide guidance to avoid those issues. Moreover, later on I had in depth discussions with more informed musicians than I, all confirming what I felt at the time concerning musical standards.
Later on in ‘21 I took the first gentle steps into the world of interviews. I felt so honored to discover amazing individuals doing great work utilizing musical skills in a multitude of ways. From singer songwriters, tutors, non-profits, to health care environments, to helping the homeless reintegrate back into normal life, music was a tool used for the good of all in countless ways. It was so inspirational to discover the creative niches that interviewees of the Music Secrets Exposed podcast had found.
Then ‘22 rolls around. By this time I had accomplished the creation of a very emotionally moving documentary series with composer Paul Lloyd Warner. It was an honour to hear his story and discover an encyclopedia of knowledge hidden away that few beyond his own close knit community knew about. Following the release, he became an integral part behind the scenes of the continuation of the podcast. At that same time, there was a wonderful Native American Flautist, whom was also going to become a very important person in the growth of SylviaLive. Plans were to co-host a podcast to serve his community in a way that they would feel safe and respected. Unfortunately, one morning early, as he was driving and overtaking a large animal on the road, he had a head on collision and died. His poor wife and family were shattered. It was so sad, because he was about to create something so very special for his own community.
Around this time I had made connections with GSE StudioWeb in the UK. Over a period of time, after all that had happened, a decision was taken to upscale the podcast and this was how SylviaLive was born. During ‘23 a whole new presentation was developed. The backend of the podcast was refined so I could provide the best I could to those brave interviewees who would be featured. It was my way of providing a space to lift up unheard voices to let them be heard in a non-critical and non-judgmental space. I wanted to provide a location where they could share their nuggets of wisdom. I decided to open up the podcast to various categories to allow others, not just those with a musical leaning to have an opportunity to come on the podcast and share their stories and wisdoms.
So here we are in ‘24, and SylviaLive is getting another upgrade. Why? You may be asking… With the online world always changing along with my desire to offer the best experience possible to you the reader of this article, or listener to podcasts, or viewer of video podcasts, it is my passion to do the best I can to provide you valuable insights and inspirational knowledge. Every person no matter their colour of skin, religious belief, or culture they come from – everyone deserves to have their voice heard when they themselves have something of wisdom to share with the world.
The mission in a few words is ‘to bring a greater good back into our world.’ Mainstream media would have you thinking all is lost at times. I don’t overlook the real problems the world faces, but if we all focus on solution based thinking, we have a chance. The human race has one opportunity, and that is to change, but change in a way that there is a greater good realised in our world for both ourselves and each other. I did not create this podcast to promote myself as an influencer or celebrity type. Actually it is so far from the truth, as being a person habitually happy in the background of life for so many years, it has been a big leap for me to create this podcast.
As this year progresses I will write more about the mission and vision of Sylvia Live. This is to help you understand WHY it plans to be around for a long time to come.
