Once again I have to write on this topic – will the human species ever grow up and learn? This week a number of situations were placed in front of me that heightened my internal desire to speak out with strength concerning injustices. In past days I have witnessed abuses of character, disagreements and rudeness. These are all situations that can be avoided if one chooses a higher path of conscious awareness of each others’ needs.
Throughout my life I have always reviewed my internal landscape first before I would respond harshly to anyone. There are a few remarkable lines in the Good Book that says the following: (taken from Matthew 7 In-Context)
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

These lines say it all when you look at how the world is so fractured, whether it be within family life right through to national disagreements leading to war. Look, I know that there are complexities that an uneducated person as myself are not privy to, but if we all start approaching each other on the street with honesty and integrity, and genuine respect for each other, we have a chance to experience true friendship, without issues and cut out a lot of the unnecessary behaviours that are so prevalent across social media and the like; all which illustrates where people’s characters are at in these times.
I can hear you say ‘You live in a Utopian world in your head, it is not possible to change this fractured world!’
I say to you, ‘well start with yourself and as the Good Book says, take the plank out of your own eye, and do a bit of self analysis or get therapy if you need to, so as you gain support and clarity about the changes that need to be made with yourself first.’ I am speaking here from personal experience.
All my life I have always looked at myself first and very often I found issues I had to review and understand, and then make appropriate amends in certain situations. It is imperative we learn this lesson in life if we are to heal a broken world. Change happens with each individual on the planet and then the world takes a quantum leap forward. And if you think it is impossible, try it in your own life and work through it, and you will be eternally grateful you did. I know so. Everyday with gratitude I walk my talk to the best of my ability and I would not change it for the world.

“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”

“Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.”

“To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.”
