Around me these days are a number of people experiencing some form of health challenge, unfortunately. But the one thing I am observing is a constant effort in one way or another to return to natural self-care. Let me explain…
As a podcast host, my ears and eyes are always curious to find out what is happening in our world. I tune into the best of interviews from people who have a wealth of expertise as well as listening to stories of personal experience of those who are coming out the other side of challenges. Regarding health and well-being in these days, the central thread that I am witnessing flowing through therapy protocols is simply a return to the ‘natural’.

What this means is that diets are cleaned out, physical activities are improved and a sense of empowerment is returning to the individual. People who are able to, are taking into their own hands the production of their own clean food sources. Steps are taken to reduce stress as much as possible and anything that is processed or unnatural or not clean, is not eaten and eliminated. Anything processed is now being viewed as the worst form of slow incremental damage to a body when taken in over long periods of time.
Recently on a long interview I heard a Harvard Psychologist speaking to her work concerning the relationship between the gut biome and mental health. So much now is being realized about the effect of the gut and how it communicates with the brain. Interestingly when processed food enters the gut it has an effect of upsetting the whole balance of gut and brain communication. (If you are interested to hear this insightful interview, you can find it here).

What is being demonstrated loudly and clearly is that we all need to be very aware of what we take into our bodies these days over periods of time. If we want to have the best life possible, we need to have a sense of agency and take control of our lives in a way that many of us at first will find difficult. Not everyone is gifted with living in an environment where an organic clean garden can be had, but there are good solutions out there if one searches well.
As the year rolls on, stay tuned to Sylvia Live because there will be further opportunities for you to gain a deeper awareness of health and how to take control of it if you are having issues, or if simply you just want to change a few things to ensure stronger long term health as you get older.
